Privacy Policy

EquestrianMarket is a European horse marketplace. This policy explains what personal data we handle when you browse, advertise or message on the platform, why we handle it, and how you stay in control of it.

1. Who we are

EquestrianMarket operates this website and its listing, messaging and directory services. For questions about this policy or your data, contact us through the contact page.

2. Data we collect

  • Account data — email address, display name, optional phone number and country.
  • Listing data — everything you publish in an advert, including photos, prices and location.
  • Message data — the content of enquiries you send or receive through the platform.
  • Usage data — pages viewed, searches run, saved adverts and device/browser information.
  • Cookies — see our cookie policy.

3. Why we use it

  • To create your account and publish your adverts (performance of a contract).
  • To deliver enquiries between buyers and sellers and to alert you to new matches (contract and consent).
  • To detect fraud, scams and abusive behaviour, and to keep the marketplace safe (legitimate interest).
  • To measure how the site is used so we can improve it (legitimate interest / consent for analytics cookies).
  • To send marketing emails only where you have opted in — you can leave at any time via unsubscribe.

4. What is public

A published advert and its photos are public, as is your seller display name and general location. Your email address and phone number are never shown publicly; buyers reach you through in-platform messaging unless you choose to share contact details yourself.

5. Sharing and processors

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the platform — hosting, database, email delivery, payment processing and translation — each acting on our instructions. Where a listing is syndicated to or from a partner marketplace, only the public advert content is exchanged, never your account details.

6. Retention

Account and listing data are kept while your account is open. After closure we delete or anonymise personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. You may also withdraw consent at any time and lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. Contact us and we will respond within one month.

8. International transfers

Where a provider processes data outside the EEA, we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes are notified by email or on-site notice.
